Voted No. 1 for 28 Years - The Ultimate Guide to Las Vegas

Feature

Cowboy Town

Who doesn’t love cowboys? Every year, Las Vegas gets into a frenzy, hosting these men (and women) who are passionate about “the fastest growing sport in the country,” professional bull riding.

The Professional Bull Riders, Inc. (PBR) was created in 1992 when a group of 20 visionary bull riders broke away from the traditional rodeo scene seeking mainstream attention for the sport of professional bull riding. Each rider invested a hard-earned $1,000, a few of them borrowing from family and friends, to start the PBR.

More than 1,200 bull riders from all over the world hold PBR memberships. They compete in more than 300 bull riding events per year, with the ultimate goal being to qualify for the prestigious PBR World Finals in Las Vegas.

Throughout the years, the PBR has been so successful, attracting big-name corporate sponsors, that after just 14 seasons, the annual prize money has sky-rocketed to more than $10 million dollars.

As an official sponsor of the 2008 Professional Bull Riders (PBR) World Finals, the Sahara Hotel is hosting numerous events, promotions and premier room packages through November 9.

For starters, you don’t have to be a cowboy (or cowgirl) to indulge in the “Ultimate Cowboy Dinner” in the House of Lords Steak House which features rocky mountain oysters, buffalo filet and wild boar – all for $42 per person. More traditional? Then opt for the “T-Bone-n-Brew Special” available in the Caravan Café, 24/7, which includes a 1 lb. grilled t-bone steak with salad, a choice of potato and an ice-cold Miller High Life or Miller Light – all for $14.95.

There’s also the “Thomas & Mack Coupon Giveaway” where 500 coupons for a “Free Miller High Life and shot of Jack” will be given away each evening at the Thomas & Mack’s Jack Daniels Lounge. These coupons are redeemable at any Sahara bar, plus, guests who show a PBR ticket stub will receive a $1 discount on all beverages at the casino bars. Other drink specials, available 24/7 in all the hotel’s bars are: $2 Miller High Life longnecks; Jack Daniels, Gentlemen Jacks and Jack Single Barrels start from $4; $6 Miller High Life Longnecks and shots of Jack Daniels (double the shot for $2 more), and $10 buckets of Miller High Life Longnecks.

Where would cowboy central be without beautiful ladies? The Sahara will be hosting the hottest Bikini Bull Riding contest on November 7, 10 p.m., with the girls of Badda Bing Gentlemen’s Club competing for cash and prizes. These ladies will also pick out three lucky cowboys to compete in the “Frozen T-shirt” contest. Other brave females who want to try their hand at bull-riding can take their chances Friday and Saturday nights, (November 7-8), 8-10 p.m., at the Casbar Lounge.

On top of all these goodies, the Sahara will also be hosting the “Official PBR 3rd and 7th Round Drafts” as well as after-parties, November 8 at the NASCAR Café. All riders participating in the finals will be attending the parties.

Stay and play throughout with “The Jack Daniels Package” (November 6-9) which includes 4-night accommodation in a standard room, one ticket (balcony section) per occupant, per day for the PBR event, $25 in free slots or tables, up to double occupancy; $5 discount off the “Ultimate Cowboy Dinner;” two coupons for a free Jack Daniels Country Cocktail and roundtrip transportation to the PBR event each night. Rates start at $988, for single occupancy.

Also, get a chance to win the grand prize of a Yamaha grizzly 450 4x4. Drawing to be held at 11:30 p.m., November 8, Nascar Café. To earn a drawing ticket, all you have to do is one of the following: become a new Club Sahara member, play slots (every 20 points earned on your Club Sahara card), play blackjack (every Blackjack with a minimum of $10 bet) or play craps (when a shooter rolls a 7 or 11 on the Come Out roll with $10 Pass Line Bet).

So what are you waiting for? Get going to the Sahara!
